8:20 – Wanted to get this post out early so everyone can know how well Ella is doing before going to bed…
This morning Natalie and I were exhausted from little sleep. I was called into her room about 4:00am but Natalie had been up all night with her. One at a time they started removing lines and tubes. Doctors and nurses came in and out checking on her status. We were told that a regular room was available and began preparing for the move. At this point we were still worried about her lungs.
She started really coming awake and alert right after we moved into the room. A few hours in and she starting to act like herself again. It was such a relief. It almost didn’t seem like she had the surgery 24 hours ago. The respiratory therapist continued work on her and was able to turn the oxygen off. The tubes were bothering her nose, so that was a good thing to see go.
Anyone who knows Ella Grace, knows that she loves popsicles. And once she found out they had them here she’s been eating them every time she wakes up. She even ate a big helping of mac and cheese. We love seeing that she keeps the food down.
Natalie has been amazing this entire time. She has rarely left Ella Grace’s side and is there for her every need. She is able to take great care with her experience in healthcare and Ella is fortunate to have a mommy that loves her as much as Natalie does!
Again, thank you all for your prayers and kind words. I think we had over 3,500 hits on the blog the last two days. We will continue to keep you posted as ofen as we can.
Please continue to pray for her lungs and pray that her chest tubes will be removed soon. When they are gone she will be able to move around and eventually get out of bed. Please also pray that she gets plenty of needed rest tonight and the we do as well.
