11:20pm – Today has been a great day. I know we ended on a bad note but overall we have been blessed to get Ella and all her personality back. She has been funny, loving, happy, and just a typical two year-old.
We didn’t get much sleep last night, but we were happy to be sharing the same room. They continued the chest percussion therapy and that has really paid off. Her lungs sound almost normal and the therapists are very happy with her progress. During the night she had a lapse in pain medicine, but by early morning was able to get back on track.
By lunch time, more wires and tubes were disconnected and she began to get her appetite back. The menu here at Vanderbilt is very kid-friendly and filled with foods Ella Grace likes. She was also able to meet the requirements that the dietitians wanted to see.
This evening Ella Grace continued to play in her bed and enjoy the company of her grandparents. We spoke with Dr. Christian who gave a 50% possibility that her chest tubes would be removed tomorrow. If that is the case, we could be home as early as Sunday or Monday!
I cannot stress enough how much we appreciate your prayers and encouragement. This site has over 100 comments and almost 5,000 views. We have an amazing family and great friends. Thanks for taking your time to show you care. We will make sure Ella knows how much she is loved. She is such a special baby, we thank God for her and the success of this surgery.
