IV Problems

April 4, 2008 By Jason Tanner

9:40pm – Ella is struggling with getting a new IV. Her line was accidentally pulled out and now they are trying to get a new line put in. But every vein they try is getting blown. They need to have it in soon so she can have her pain meds.

10:00pm – She is resting now. They are going to try to numb her foot where they will put the new IV line shortly.

10:15pm – She is having a good time and eating a rice crispy treat. They have numbed her feet and going to wait a little while to put the IV line in.

10:45pm – 5 Attempts and no luck on the IV line… please pray we can find a solution.

11:00pm – Just spoke with the doctor and agreed to take all medicine by mouth and not worry about having the IV line tonight.  The are making an exception because it is hospital policy for cardiac patients to have IV lines.  This is good news!  We will get some rest and get more help in the morning with an IV specialist and have a chance to talk with Dr. Christian.  Thank you for your prayers!  I’ll post a day recap in a few…
